Ashland, a premier specialty materials company, and leader in gafchromic™ film based advanced dosimetry solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of its in-vivo dosimetry system, designed to support treatment accuracy in radiation therapy. This innovative system is intended for use as a quality control system as a secondary verification of the radiation dose. This system allows for near real-time reporting of radiation doses delivered to patients during treatment.
The gafchromic™ in-vivo dosimetry system utilizes advanced film technology that provides clinicians with feedback on the dose received by the patient.
Gafchromic™ in-vivo dosimetry system utilizes Ashland’s NEW gafchromic™ pnt-dos™ device which is irradiated during the procedure or application. Once exposed to irradiation, the device is analyzed using the new in-vivo dosimetry module in filmQA pro™ v8. Using the provided accessories, scanner, and procedure that is a part of gafchromic™ in-vivo dosimetry system, dosimetry professionals can quickly analyze the gafchromic pnt-dos™ device and help verify the dose was delivered as intended per device specifications. The Ashland gafchromic™ in-vivo dosimetry system is a solution which leverages the gafchromic™ film technology to design the pnt-dos™ device and the filmQA pro™ software. This system is intended for use as a quality control system as a secondary verification of the radiation dose.
The pnt-dos™ devices have a small footprint of less than one inch long and only a half inch wide and a very thin film-like thickness to allow obtaining dose points in challenging places like skin folds and sensitive areas around anatomy such as genitals and facial areas.
The Pnt-Dos device is a specially engineered device that helps verify radiation doses in the low (< 80 cGy) and high ranges (from 80-400 cGy). The devices have a light adhesive layer that can be used to adhere to the patient’s skin after the plastic liner has been removed from the back side. This allows the staff to quickly apply the devices on sloped surfaces without using any adhesive tape that may cause skin irritation.
The QR code that is placed on every device increases quality levels to good practices with containing information relative to the Gafchromic film such as serial number, expiration date and lot number that is checked and recorded with every optical scan procedure.
The Pnt-Dos devices are sold in a package that contains fifty measurement devices along with three reference devices.
